Grading weights are used for calculating the grade of your students in a course. By adding grading weights, you will be able to assign your Activity modules a grading weight, you can determine how much weight to give to each module in the final grade calculation.
An example
You have added the following grading weights:
- Homework - 20%
- Test - 30%
- Exam - 50%
You can then assign the weights to your activity modules and the final grade will be calculated using your pre-set weights.
If you don't set any weights grades will be calculated in a cumulative way.
How to create grading weights?
Click the "Grading weights" menu in the School menu.
Give your grading weight a name and a weight percentage and click "Save".
Your new grading weight will appear under the Grading weights. Add as many grading weights as you like.
How do I assign grading weights to modules?
When adding a new Activity module, click the Select a pre-defined grading weight to open the dropdown menu after naming your activity. You can also overwrite the default percentage assigned to the grading weight by changing the number when creating the module in the field next to the name of the grading weight.
