What kind of information should you provide in the course description?

To wake the students' attention and make them take your course, it is very important to write a well-defined course description.

• It must contain all relevant information in order to make students fully aware of what classes they are going to participate in.
• This is why the teachers should provide a short introduction about their lessons which describe what subjects relate to the specific classes/course. It is best to write a schedule, where students see which classes are going to held when and what the topics covered are going to be. It should also list when test are scheduled (e.g after each broad topic or only at the end of the course).
• Formulating your expectations towards the students are important, starting from whom the course is recommended.
• You should write down the outcome requirements - for example how grading is going to be, how many assignments should be completed, minimum class attendance required etc.
• Whether there is some kind of condition to be met in order to take the course (previous knowledge on the subject).
• It is important that if there is any restriction on who can apply for the class or whom the teacher created it for, it must be clear to the students as well.
